I wasn’t born  in Texas, but I got here as soon as I could.

I grew up swimming and fishing in lakes, rivers, and springs. They have always been a powerful influence on my life. After graduating from the US Air Force Academy with a degree in Civil Engineering, I was assigned to attend pilot training in Del Rio in 1988. Those early years included many trips to San Antonio where I first saw Pinto Creek and Las Moras Springs. After a few years as an instructor pilot at Laughlin and an assignment flying the C-5, I got married to my incredible wife Christie, came back to Texas as an instructor pilot in San Antonio, and started a family. We returned to Brackettville to finish my Air Force career flying the T-1 at Laughlin. Raising our kids, Emma and Sam, here on Fort Clark Springs has been a blessing for our family. For years, I took what we have in Kinney County for granted and was frankly caught sleeping as our waters came under increasing threat. I’m awake now and working to protect our water for future generations.
